In January 2021, we started working with the four most known houseless kids in Bwishyura. They’ve been in multiple centers for delinquents, yet have returned to the streets after every release since they had no better options. We met the boys when they were begging, and told them they could come eat breakfast and lunch at the school. When they did, we also suggested they play soccer and other games with our young PE teacher. Now the boys come every single day, even on weekends and school breaks. We feed them, play sports with them, and help them with school work. We also teach them the Bible and simply talk to them. In order for children to heal, it is important for them to have a support system and know that people care for them. The boys have now returned to their homes. They keep their clothes tidy and do their best in school. Gradually, the number of teenagers we work with is growing, and as of today we have about 163!
Our school complex was built to be the most comfortable environment for studying and sport activities.
We know that a quality physical space is critical to learning. So we build classrooms in partnership with communities in Rwanda. Our teens study in spacious, well-lit classrooms with a variety of educational materials
We believe that students will perform better if they are led by inspired and well-trained teachers. We also provide local school teachers and coaches with training and innovative resources, enhancing the delivery of national curriculum and empowering them to lead dynamic and effective lessons.
