One of our latest projects, done in collaboration with other ministers (for example, currently – with Caritas Rwanda) is a Sewing School. The students are teenagers – mostly girls. They are a very underprivileged group of people – the majority come from poor villages and are barely educated. To make things worse, a lot of the girls have been abused by men – raped or seduced – and have babies. When they got pregnant, they were rejected by mostly everyone in the local community, often including the immediate family. All doors were closed for them, and the girls found themselves with no prospects for the future whatsoever. The aim of our ministry is to bring hope, so we were the pioneers to accept students with children. While the young mothers are at school, qualified nannies take care of their little ones. The girls graduate with a trade that can enable them to generate income. Currently we have 96 students, out of which 76 have babies.
