Fight against the delinquency

Another area of the Global Help to Heal (GHH) mission is working with children and adolescents who live on the street and experience a solitary lifestyle as a result.
Every day, even during the holidays, four boys come to us. Unfortunately, this is not a rare occurrence as there are many street children in Bwishura. The President of GHH, Jan Berkmans, has a successful experience working with street teenagers. He suggested that we find the most influential leaders of the district. If we work with the most influential street teenagers, and they radically change their lifestyle, then there is a very high probability that others will follow their example. It is pivotal for children, especially teenagers, to be engaged in an activity they are interested in, in which they have the talent and desire to develop proficiency. Our teachers at GHH have additional classes. They offer classes in the Bible which allows students to grow in the knowledge of God. Other classes offered are music and art. Teachers maintain friendly relationships with these students to help them identify their talents and guide them in their path of growth and development. The students have been given uniforms and receive daily meals at no expense. These teenagers have continued coming to us even after having lessons at the local secondary school. They desire to grow and have found the opportunity to do so through GHH. We know that it is not easy for them to change their way of life, but we believe that God will touch their hearts and give them the strength and desire to choose the path of abundant life and blessings only found in Him.
